Yeah, I haven't forgot this ol' blog, but I don't like to post pointless crap until it all builds up and explodes. So okay, here goes. A huge argument I've had twice today is over the difference between killing and murder. Yeah, there is a difference, but it's kinda funny. People insist that murder is wrong but killing isn't. Lord knows, He made a typo with the Ten Commandments-- it seems like he meant to say "Thou shalt not murder, thou shalt kill for greed and nationalism."
The first argument was on the subject of war. The other guy seems to insist that killing an enemy in war is like killing a deer. He says that you don't murder a deer. Then he said the stupidest thing ever. No really, if we weren't in class I would have put that viewpoint in the ground. He says that if you believe they're deer because you've been taught so, it's fine to kill an enemy of war. Man that's so stupid. Whether you hide behind this "wall" you've created, you're still killing, just like they do. Killing terrorists for killing is very stupid. Now, some may say that they deserve to pay a life because they took one, but this is a silly idea too. If you kill someone for killing, then you now owe your life because you killed a person. '
The second argument was over capital punishment, or the Death Penalty. Like I said before, some may say that people deserve to give their life because they took one, but when you think of it, killing a killer is pointless and solves nothing. Killing a killer won't bring anyone back, nor will it allow anyone to benefit. Sure it'll prevent escapes, but so will good security. Killing a prisoner is what enemies of war do to enemy countrymen. So if you do support this penalty, add me on msn (frank011@comcast.net) or something. I'll be happy to debate. On the other side of this fence, I hate how killers are released on "bail" and "good behavior." No amount of good behavior will ever forgive what they've done. Nothing can cancel out a kill, jailtime just keeps people from escaping while keeping their human rights, which even the dirtiest or killers should still get.
So in conclusion, I have to say that killing other humans is killing, regardless of the circumstance (maybe with a few exceptions, like a dire act of defense). Even if it is for one's country. Fighting for one's country does make sense, our country does a lot for us, and we do a lot for it. However, the nationalism sometimes goes crazy, leading to a lot of trouble. People should be humans first and citizens second. On a closing remark, it seems that a lot of people who argued their viewpoints against mine were Republicans. Republicans, as we know, are usually very religious. This makes me wonder, whatever happened to "Thou shalt not kill?"
We have three days left of school! We also have a party on Friday and a trip to Six Flags next Thursday--after school is out. It'll be nice to have a big break before jumping into the high school. Well, this summer won't be totally free of schoolwork. We got a bunch of Social Studies homework today. Assignment 1 involves watching the national news for 50 days and recording headlines that piqued our interests, along with a sentence or few about them. Then we'll write a paragraph or two about two articles that we really liked or something by August 28th. Then we have some questions about the Federalist Papers, only twenty. Then we have to get a few magazine and computer articles on certain subjects and identify a bunch of political people. So yeah, there isn't that much to do. I could go on with more things now but I'm friggin tired and need a shower, so I'll post again sometime.
